The New York Times on Tuesday began accepting applications for a new initiative called “timeSpace,” in which a select number of startup companies will be invited to work out of the newspaper’s headquarters at 620 8th Avenue in Manhattan for four months, where they will engage with Times’ staffers, demo their products and interact with other fellow participants in the program. The Times is looking specifically for companies focused on media, and applications can be submitted online at the new timeSpace website until February 19. The company may decide to fund the startups it accepts — as one of several investors in any potential funding rounds — but it may decline, as well, according to the applications solicitation.
