House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced the appointment of six Democrats on Wednesday to the House House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Select Investigative Panel probing “big abortion providers,” that is to say, Planned Parenthood.

In her prepared statement, Pelosi called the committee the Select Committee to Attack Women’s Health.

Her appointees are: Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL), Rep. Jerrold Nadler (NY), Rep. Diana DeGette (CO), Rep. Jackie Speier (CA), Rep. Suzan DelBene (WA) and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ).

Pelosi said in a prepared statement that her appointees had perviously served on committees overseeing women’s health issues:

I am proud to name six strong champions of women, families and facts to stand up against the latest Republican assault on women’s health. Hard-working families deserve better than a taxpayer-funded Republican Select Committee fixated on dismantling women’s health. As Republicans try to take affordable family planning and lifesaving preventive care away from millions of American women, Democrats will be in the room to fight for the truth.

In his last days as Speaker of the House, John Boehner appointed four men and four women to the investigative panel. The panel will be chaired by Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.

  1. I don’t recognize most of those names, but Bwa-ha-ha, Jerry Nadler is going to make those people regret ever starting this.

Being a stubborn Kraut, it isn’t very often I admit I’m wrong.

But I have to admit it nonetheless. I was originally for the Democrats boycotting the Benghazi! select committee, as well as this one.

However, having watched the hearing when Hillary testified, the better strategy is for the Democrats spend all of their time attacking the hearings and the Republicans on the committee rather than questioning the witnesses.

The combination of a cool customer like Cecile Richards calmly answer questions, and bull dogs like Nadler tearing the Republicans a new asshole will drive the Republicans crazy.

Turn it into a spectacle and a circus.

I will further add, that it is supreme irony and the height of hypocrisy that a party that constantly goes on about the evil, tyrannical federal government, is using the branch of the federal government that they control, to attempt to criminalize what is essentially a political disagreement, and terrorize their opponents. Talk about scary.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

  4. The Dems appointed 5 women and 1 man.

The GOP War on Women will continue. And the GOP will continue to lose it.

  5. Yes, but it almost couldn’t get any better. She’s like lighter fluid on the crazy. She’ll take this committee down faster than McCarthy took down Benghazi. She won’t be able to help herself.
