Following the editorial board of The New York Times, two other flagship New York City newspapers called on embattled mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner to bow out on Wednesday.

In a sharply worded editorial, The Wall Street Journal said bluntly that Weiner, reeling from fresh revelations that he engaged in lewd and explicit online chats following his 2011 resignation from Congress, “is not a normal human being.”

Lewd tweets aside—there’s a line we never thought we’d write— Anthony Weiner ought to drop out of the New York City mayor’s race simply because of what he’s forced his wife to endure. Watching the elegant Huma Abedin stand next to her man Tuesday as he explained his latest sexually charged online exchanges was painful for a normal human being to watch. Mr. Weiner is not a normal human being.

The New York Daily News echoed the Times and the Journal, using its cover to tell Weiner to drop out. The city’s other major tabloid, the New York Post, showed uncharacteristic restraint with its own front page on Wednesday when it passed on a suggestive pun for its headline.
