Maryland Exit Polls: Romney Cruises Except For Far Right

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is projected to win the Maryland Republican primary by a huge margin, and exit polls show Romney dominated nearly all subgroups, except for some of the most rightward voting blocs.

The only demographics Romney lost to former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum were those who named abortion as their most important concern, and those Republican groups who said the most important candidate quality was to be a “true conservative” and to posess “strong moral character.” The two men also evenly split those GOPers who defined themselves as “very conservative.” Additionally, Santorum won younger voters, from 17 to 44, who made up 23 percent of the primary.
