Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley took a swing at Democratic 2016 frontrunner Hillary Clinton, by suggesting her opposition to the Keystone XL Pipeline was politically driven.
“Secretary Clinton got there just last week. And I was there a year ago,” O’Malley said at the MSNBC Democratic Forum, when Rachel Maddow brought up that all three Democratic candidates opposed the pipeline.
“I think it’s important because I think leadership isn’t about following polls,” O’Malley said, when Maddow asked why that distinction was important. “I think leadership’s about being clear about your principles and bringing people together on them.”
Next to political opportunist in the dictionary is this guy. He was pretty good in this interview though.
What a chump.
The Keystone pipeline was dead from the day the application was made. Obama was never going to approve a project that would only make the Koch brothers a lot richer and able to fund a lot more attacks on Democrats.
But the minute the application was rejected, the Kochs could go to the law courts and appeal. And then Ginny Thomas would get another ‘consulting fee’ and Scalia, Roberts etc would find a way to overrule the government and the Kochs would win.
So delaying a decision was essential. The longer there was no decision, the longer it would be before the Kochs could appeal. The only reason we are getting a decision now is that the project doesn’t make any economic sense at the moment with the oil price being so low and so the Kochs would prefer to put the application on hold till the price rises.
You were what exactly one year ago? Oh, right. Someone that nobody outside of Maryland had ever heard of. And in a few months, you’ll sink back into obscurity.
O’Malley I thought came off pretty good. Sanders came off even better. I’m wondering, are the candidates put in a sound-proof booth before coming on stage to do this thing? I like this forum.
Rachel is doing an excellent job…bringing out the best in each candidate so far, and asking some really good probing questions without being antagonistic, yet willing to directly bring up the controversial stuff all the same. See…This is how its done. Discussing the issues, talking about the stuff that sits out there with questions still on their minds…at least Democratic minds. Republican minds unfortunately are shot.
Now she’s talking with Hillary about Democratic connections with corporations and how Hillary sees it influencing the democratic process. Really good stuff. It’s so much more insightful to learn about the Dem. candidates this way than anything the Pukes have done on stage thus far. What a difference.
Who?
