Nearly two weeks after Election Day, Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) conceded the Alaska Senate race Monday to his Republican challenger Dan Sullivan.
Begich issued a statement Monday saying that he had called Sullivan to congratulate him on his victory. The Associated Press called the election for Sullivan last Wednesday, when he led by 8,100 votes.
“When I spoke with Dan Sullivan today, I encouraged him to adopt a bipartisan resolve in the Senate,” Begich said. “Alaska is ill-served by the partisan fights that don’t reflect our state’s unique needs and priorities.”
And yet another nut heads to the senate.
I live in Alaska and I saw 100s of political ads over the election. All Begich did was talk about how he isn’t like Obama and what he has done in the past. Not a single word about what he was going to do in the future. I still voted for him, but only because not knowing was better than knowing what Dan Sullivan would do.
Dan Sullivan, of Ohio, was picked by the GOP establishment (Rove). Palin appointed him Alaska Attorney General, to give him an an Alaska resume.
Alaska is 60% conservative, 40% liberal. Begich lost by 2%.
He did the best he could, given circumstances.
