Rubio Opens Up About His Faith To Iowa Christians In New Ad (VIDEO)

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) opened up about his Christian faith in an ad released Thursday that was aimed at Iowa evangelicals, a crucial GOP voting bloc.

“The purpose of our life is to cooperate with God’s plan, to those who much has been given much is expected and we will be asked to account for that,” Rubio says in the 30-second spot.

Rubio’s life has run the gamut of Christian faith. While he was baptized as a child in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Mormon Church, he now is a Catholic who sometimes attends a “Southern Baptist-affiliated church,” according to the New York Times.

The ad will air in Iowa beginning this weekend, but the cost of the ad buy is unclear.

A Real Clear Politics analysis of Iowa polls puts the freshman senator in third place with 11.3 percent support. The Iowa caucus is Feb. 1.

In other words, like every other policy area, he’s willing to be anything to everyone. Whatever it is that YOU believe in, HE believes in it. Too.

Religion is a damn useful tool for politicians. It gets them forgiven. It gets them money. It gets them votes.

  4. If I want my taxes processed professionally I don’t care the religion of my accountant. My torn ACL can be repaired by a Hindu. My car tuned up by a Muslim. Whatever I need done, so long as it’s done for a fair price and in a professional manner, can by done by anyone adhering to any religion. WTF does it matter the religion of my President? It seems his two main jobs are to manage the military and the economy to the best of his ability. We want to be safe and have a job.

Religion is the root of all evil. Truly. It’s unfortunate the concept of religion ever took hold.

I assume Rubio is implying atheists have no purpose in life.
  5. Oh wow. At last, he finally “opens up.” Republicans are usually so secretive about their religion.
