A 37-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly threatening a Seattle mosque and after engaging in what The Seattle Times described as a “brief” standoff with police.

Police told the newspaper that the man posted online threats against a mosque, later posting that he had purchased ammunition and an assault rifle. Officials said they were made aware of the posts by a friend of the suspect who lived out of town.

A spokesman for the Idris Mosque, Hisham Farajallah, told the Seattle Times that police informed him that his mosque was the target.

The suspect was arrested by police after a brief standoff at his home. No injuries were reported in that incident, the Times reported.

As of Wednesday morning, it wasn’t clear if the suspect had been charged.

  1. A domestic terrorist. Motive, intent, weapons, target. Now, let’s see what authorities do with it.

  2. This is ‘my’ mosque. It’s located in a residential area in North Seattle. It has been threatened several times since 911 and every time Christians have shown up to sit and protect and wait for the nutcases to show up. The people are the nicest. They try and live in the area so they can walk to the mosque. They support the community. What MORE can you want. I am sick of these fools that ‘think’ they have a clue.

  3. He cannot be a terrorist if he is anti-Muslim.

Alone, considered seperately, each threat might not indicate anything sinister, County Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz said.
