Larry Wilmore was saddened but unsurprised on Monday at footage out of Texas that showed a white cop drawing his gun and wrestling a black, teenage girl in a bikini to the ground.
“Officer, I don’t know if you’ve been watching the news this past year, but black people don’t like that anymore,” Wilmore said above the chyron, “Swimming While Black.”
But Wilmore was more taken aback by, of course, Fox News’s coverage of the story, specifically how the morning show “Fox & Friends” decided to segue out of a segment on the pool party.
“Have you heard what Jerry Seinfeld said about the influence of PC police on college campuses?” co-host Brian Kilmeade said with a grim delivery.
Wilmore was baffled.
“The PC police can fuckin’ wait, let’s keep talking about the real police!” he said.
As it happens, “Fox & Friends” went on to do a completely seperate and cheery segment on summer pool safety only a few minutes later during the episode.

Nitpick: It’s “segue.” “Segway” is a two-wheeled vehicle that Jeff Bezos lost millions of dollars hyping. “Segwey,” as far as Google knows, is not a word.
They misspelled “separate,” too.
Thanks. I came here to do that.
I don’t like the “Segway” pronunciation either… but it’s legit. Segue - Wikipedia . And that’s not a recent development; for decades I’ve heard well educated people use this pronunciation.
