Running down the list of new guidelines for Cleveland police, Larry Wilmore was disappointed to find all the fun has been taken out of being a cop.
The changes came in the wake of the acquittal of a cop involved in the fatal shooting of two black suspects in 2012.
“Okay, to be fair to the Cleveland police, that shooting took place in 2012, before black lives mattered,” Wilmore said. “They didn’t know shooting black people was gonna be a big controversial thing.”
Now, after a harsh report from the Department of Justice, the city announced changes to its police force. Among other things, police can no longer Taser or pistol-whip people as liberally.
“But it feels so good to use a gun like a fist!” Wilmore complained. “It’s like a fist-plus!”
Finally, the host heard that police are now prohibited from firing “warning shots.”
“Wait, are we choosing shots? Because I’m okay with the warning shot!” he said. “It’s the kill shot I have an issue with!”

Some of the stuff they are telling them not to do do seem like common sense. Particularly the warning shot (and beyond that a non-fatal first shot then stop to see if the person backs down before any more, something I mentioned in another post and a gun person thought was dumb) just seem like they should already be standard procedure.
