Joe Davis, the husband of anti-gay Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis, asked those gathered at a rally on Thursday to continue praying for him and his wife “to fight this battle.”
Before Joe Davis took the stage in his classic overalls, people sang “Happy Birthday” to his wife, who was jailed for several days in contempt of court after refusing to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples and whose birthday was Thursday.
The rally was organized by the Tennessee Pastors Network, a conservative group in Tennessee made up of pastors that has held rallies in the past to legislate for pro-life issues and religious freedom.
The rally was intended to, among other things, “motivate Tennesseans to defend their religious freedom and uphold God’s design for the nation, as well as engage pastors and citizens to address the most talked-about issues of the day,” according a description of the event on the organizers’ website.
“Well, I’m not a speaker,” Joe Davis said as he took the mic. “But I just want to tell you all that I really truly appreciate and love each and every one that’s here today to show the support for God first, and for me and my wife. I love each and every one of you. I love Tennessee. I love everybody.”
“Y’all just keep praying for me, and my wife, that God will give us the strength to fight this battle until it’s over with,” he continued. “God bless you all.”

Why does he dress like an extra in a Hee-Haw episode?
I wonder if his middle name is Bob?
Wait, which of her husbands was this?
You know, as embarrassing as it may be today, I used to really enjoy ‘Hee Haw,’ as they usually had some great musical talent. And, yes, this dude is straight outta the '70s ‘Hee Haw’ show. Dumb jokes. Good music, dumb jokes – kinda like this joker and his very adulterous partner. Biblically-speaking, in the eyes of the Lord, Kim is still married to that first dude. Poor man.
Not trying to be a PITA, but which god are we talking about? Zeus? Athena? Ra? Venus (the other one…no, I don’t mean her sister)? The God of the Christians? That one? Okay, which God of the Christians? The Old Testament vengeful, racist, hateful, misogynistic, murdering SOB, or the New and Improved™ one? Okay, the New and Improved one…but didn’t he give pass to his father bloody crimes against humanity and…what? Why are you looking at me that way. You love to cite bits and pieces of his “design” so I’m a little bit confused and… Put that down. I mean it. Put it…
Sorry, gotta run! Aphrodite is calling me.
