White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday that the White House was “thinking about and praying” for the family of a staffer who was killed last week.

Jake Brewer, who was a senior technology advisor for the White House, was killed in a bicycling crash Friday while he was participating in a charity event, according to NBC News.

President Obama offered his condolences in a statement released Saturday.

“I am heartbroken at the tragic loss of one of my advisors, Jake Brewer,” Obama said in the statement. “We set out to recruit the best of the best to join their government and help us harness the power of technology and data to innovate new solutions for the 21st century. Simply put, Jake was one of the best.”

At the end of the statement, Obama added, “they’ll always have a family here at the White House,” sentiments Earnest echoed during his press briefing Monday.

“On behalf of all of my colleagues here at the White House, we’re thinking about and praying for Jake’s family today. They’re going through obviously a very difficult time,” Earnest said.

“But as the President said at the end of his statement, they have a family here at the White House that they can rely on,” Earnest said. “But we’re going to keep them in our thoughts and prayers certainly in the days ahead.”

  1. How long before Alex Jones or Faux News or whoever starts claiming they’ve connected the dots and that what really happened is that Clinton and/or Obama had this guy “taken care of” because he knew too much about Clinton’s email server?

  2. He’s a science advisor. He was silenced because he knew the truth about manmade global climate change. The big “lie” that is being used by Democrats to destroy America’s economic engine. Don’t remember why they want to destroy it, just that they want to destroy it.
