Halfway through a monologue about the Koch brothers, Jon Stewart was interrupted on Wednesday night by a clip of the famous collie Lassie, who urged the host to come quick and see news of President Obama’s trip to Saudi Arabia.
The host of “The Daily Show” was stunned to see news footage of Obama leaving a recent trip to India early in order to pay respects to the ultraconservative theocratic kingdom’s late King Abdullah.
“He, from what I understand, left behind a stirring list of achievements,” Stewart said.
But several reports calling the king a “reformer” informed him that Abdullah presided over beheadings, public lashings, and oppression of women.
“So a reformer, lower case ‘r,'” Stewart said, until the letter shrunk so small it nearly disappeared.
“Why again was the President so eager to go mourn this fella?” the host asked.
He was quickly answered by news clips stating Abdullah drove down the price of oil.
“Oh, I can’t stay mad at you,” Stewart said quietly, blowing kisses to a map of the Saudi kingdom.
Stewart went on to ridicule the Obama administration for sending over a dozen top U.S. leaders to Saudi Arabia while sending no one to a gathering of world leaders in France following the terror attacks in Paris.

The majority of the funding for ISIS and terrorism across the world comes from Saudi Arabia and the other barbaric, authoritarian, tribal sunni fiefdoms in the Arabian peninsula. The official flag of the country has a beheading sword as its only symbol.
What a joke this dead king was! Certainly held up to the most virulent, toxic and jihadi tenets of the wahabbi version of the supposed religion of peace.
President Obama was not even invited to the man’s funeral and I don’t know why he went. Going to Saudi Arabia was a mistake especially since they did not coronate Jeb Bush or even select him as Crown Prince.
Enough already with the faux pas on not going to France. It didn’t bother the French, why would it devastate Jon?
Oy.
Because fair & balanced and dishonest faux outrage.
Really! I don’t understand Stewart’s obsession with Obama opting to NOT waste time and money participating in a staged photo-op that wasn’t even part of the actual protest demonstration. It’s a non-issue. And the WH has responded that establishing security in time would have been quite disruptive and nearly impossible.
The Saudi was a head of state. Sending representatives has nothing to do with their foreign or domestic policy, and certainly nothing to do with the free speech protests in France.
Oh for the love of god…enough of that march.
Did anyone see the Canadian Prime Minister there…the Australian Prime Minister there? Both countries within the last year have lost citizens to extremism , yet they didn’t go running over to Paris
I know who did see there, linking arms and all…at least 4 leaders who’s “devotion” to free speech is,how shall I put this, less than enthusiastic
There was a whole lot of hypocrisy all standing in a line on an empty street for a photo op and Obama lost nothing but not being their.
