Stewart: Rubio’s Expenses Are Nothing Compared To Romney’s Moneysuck (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart just wasn’t moved on Wednesday by the New York Times’ recent stories peeking into the spending of presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), such as the senator splurging on an $80,000 boat.

“How is this front page news?” the host of “The Daily Show” asked. “I can’t think of a single person who would be bothered by this.”

But, as it turns out, Mitt Romney’s campaign in 2012 reportedly flagged Rubio’s expenses as an issue while vetting the Florida senator for a vice presidential candidate.

“I don’t know if Mitt Romney is the guy to vet people on responsible spending,” Stewart said. “$80,000 on a boat slightly pales in comparison to $52 million dollars on a losing pipe dream.”

“At least Rubio’s got a boat to show for it,” Stewart whispered.

  1. I dunno. Reading that article informed me that Marco is impulsive, financially illiterate, and a grifter. Perfect GOPer…

  2. Didn’t read the article but I’m surprised that a guy who has had other financial problems, and making $174,000 (about) a year, is spending almost half his gross income on a boat.

He’s all over the country. When is he going to use it?

And If he beats Hillary in 2016 (Bwahahahahahaha), does he think he’ll take it out for a spin on the Potomac?

  3. Boat? You mean like a boat that could be used to smuggle drugs and undocumented immigrants and communism from Cuba and other dangerous places?

Oh yeah, we better investigate BoatGate.

    :sunglasses:

  4. Stewart didn’t slam the NYT, he eviscerated them! Man I’m going to miss him.

  5. Maybe you missed the part where Rubio received $800K for his book? It was petty and stupid of the NYT to print (front page, mind you) of Rubio’s pretty banal financial history.
