“The Daily Show” got slightly surreal on Thursday when Jon Stewart tried to make sense of the National Security’s Agency’s recycling mascot for kids, “Dunk.”
“Dear God, Spongebob, what have they done to you,” Stewart said slowly, sizing up the square, blue, sentient recycling can. The host said the NSA’s green-friendly mascot looked like the lovechild of a waste container and someone from the Blue Man Group.
“First off, how is the government agency with the most sophisticated computer technology in the world not capable of producing better computer graphics than a 1980s Dire Straits video,” he said.
The NSA’s boxy blue trash sprite was there to suggest schools conduct a “waste audit.” He encouraged kids in school to “dig through all the trash in your school — then you’re gonna analyze it.”
“Hey kids,” Stewart said, mocking Dunk’s high-pitched voice, “does any of that trash have phone numbers or computer passwords on it?”

would love to know how much the contracts were for these…
That is kinda creepy. WTF information would kids need to worry about destroying? “Hey kids, when you’re going through your parents garbage, keep an eye out for anything potentially useful by terrorists from foreign countries!” Also look for the Commie under their bed every night?
Given the NSA’s lack of self-control regarding civil rights, I would expect that shredder/recycling container to have a scanner the material goes through first with a direct link to the NSA databases.
