An era ended Sunday night as “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” won its final Emmy Awards with its longtime host.
The show won three at the 2015 ceremony in Los Angeles: Outstanding Variety Talk Series as well as writing and directing for a variety show.
“I’ve been off of television for six or seven weeks, this is the first applause I’ve heard,” Stewart said while accepting the award for Best Variety Talk Series. “To everybody on television, I just want to tell you: cling to it, as long as you can.”
Stewart, who led the show to 60 Emmy nominations and more than 20 wins, told the audience, “You will never have to see me again.”
Trevor Noah’s “Daily Show” premieres Sept. 28.
