Jon Stewart addressed the New York City mayoral campaign on Thursday’s edition of “The Daily Show” with the comedian taking aim at his old friend, embattled Democratic candidate Anthony Weiner.
Stewart remarked that what began as a potential political comeback for the “former congressman-turned-amateur photographer” has turned combative due in large part to Weiner’s “charm that borders on the edge of dickishness.”
“His mayoral campaign was originally designed as a humble bid for New York voters’ redemption and forgiveness, but now it’s somewhat noticeably… curved a bit to the right away from that premise,” Stewart said.
The two were roommates in New York City after college, but Weiner hasn’t been spared from Stewart’s satire. In his return to “The Daily Show” on Tuesday, Stewart was brought up to speed on what he missed during his summer hiatus — with special attention given to Weiner’s sexting pseudonym, “Carlos Danger.”
