Johnson Declines To Discuss Potential Successors In South Dakota

Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD), announcing his intention not to run for re-election, declined Tuesday to discuss whether he preferred any potential successors in 2014.

“There is several good candidates out there, and you’ll have to ask Brendan about that,” he said, referring to his son, a U.S. attorney.

Johnson said he planned to spend the final two years of his term focused on his duties for the Senate Banking Committee and implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
