John Oliver Returns, Submits His Audition Tape For ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ (VIDEO)

John Oliver returned to “Last Week Tonight” on Sunday with a “condescending, half-hearted apology that I don’t really mean.”

Oliver took responsibility for starting a hashtag, #NotMyChristian, an online protest of Hollywood’s casting of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of the bestselling romance series “Fifty Shades of Grey.” He acknowledged that his project may have been taken the wrong way.

“My real complaint is Hollywood’s unimaginative casting,” he said, adding that the industry put an actor “who specializes in handsome” in a role described as “the epitome of male beauty.”

The host’s real problem was that studio executives snubbed him.

“Sure, you pass me over for the the epitome of male beauty, but whenever you need a Caucasian foreigner or cheerful weakling, suddenly my phone is blowing up,” he fumed.

Oliver then debuted his audition tape for “a movie that’s already been made, based on a book that I’ve never read.”
