NYPD Releases Footage Of Cop Tackling Tennis Star James Blake (VIDEO)

The New York Police Department Friday released video showing a cop detaining former tennis star James Blake, who was mistaken for a suspect in a identity theft case, USA Today reported.

The video shows Blake, who was waiting outside a New York City hotel for his ride to the U.S. Open, tackled and handcuffed by a plainclothes officer. According to Blake’s previous account of Wednesday’s incident, he was released after the officers realized that he was not the suspect in the case.

Blake, who was at one point ranked the No. 4 tennis player in the world, has said he suffered injuries from the incident, including a cut on his left elbow and bruises on his left leg.

Worst kind of cop - thinks he’s a freaking commando - a one man crime stopping wannabe superhero.

  2. That guy in the white shirt has nothing identifying himself as a cop. How amazing that no one questions an attack like that in front of a fancy hotel.

  3. If there were audio, you could clearly hear the cop say “STOP RESISTING ARREST! STOP RESISTING ARREST!!!”. Which proves, of course, that Blake was resisting arrest, despite your lying eyes.

ETA: I’m dying to know what the woman who’s pointing at Blake (?) says toward the end of the video.

ETA2: Per Blake’s account, I’m wrong. The cops never identified themselves as cops, causing him to cancel his credit cards out of fear that he’d been a victim of a scam, albeit a violent one.

  4. It’s totally his fault. Had he understood how scary black men are with their superhuman strength and monster-like appearance, he would have already had handcuffs on before he left the hotel room and been lying face down in the presence of any potential police officer. When will black culture finally teach these animals how to behave around an officer of the law?

Seriously though, that was assault and the thug cop belongs in jail. But if there hadn’t been a video, we’d all be told how we were only hearing one side of the story, and how he was exaggerating what they did while not mentioning the things he did to cause the cop to attack him. Because all cops are assumed to be good until video footage proves otherwise, and even that’s not good enough for many people. Just sickening.

  5. Good grief. Not even so much as a hello, what’s your name, what are you doing here. Nothing.

    Enjoy that desk duty, jackass.
