Illinois Rep. Derrick Smith, Charged With Bribery, Rolls To Primary Win

Illinois state Rep. Derrick Smith (D) rolled to an easy primary victory on Tuesday despite being accused by federal prosecutors of taking a $7,000 cash bribe.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Smith was leading in the polls 76 percent to 32 percent when challenger Tom Swiss conceded the race.
