Reuters caught up with Glenn Greenwald on Tuesday apparently moments after The Guardian journalist communicated with National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden by online chat.

Among the three Latin American countries that have offered Snowden asylum, Greenwald said the 30-year-old former government contractor is most likely to choose Venezuela because the country is best-suited “to get him safely from Moscow to Latin America and to protect him once he’s there.”

“They’re a bigger country, a stronger country and a richer country with more leverage in international affairs,” Greenwald said.

Nicaragua and Bolivia have also extended asylum offers to Snowden.
