Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said Friday that he believed that the FBI could leak the results of its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server if “political interference” gets in the way of a prosecution.
“Is there going to be political interference? If there’s enough evidence to prosecute, will there be political interference?” Grassley said among reporters during a breakfast at the Des Moines A.M. Rotary club, according to the Des Moines Register. “And if there’s political interference, then I assume that somebody in the FBI is going to leak these reports and it’s either going to have an effect politically or it’s going to lead to prosecution if there’s enough evidence.”
A reporter followed up on Grassley’s supposition, asking him if he believed the FBI should leak what it finds.
“I wouldn’t be encouraging it because if it’s a violation of law, I can’t be encouraging a violation of law,” Grassley said. “This is kind of my own opinion, this is something I’ve heard.”
Sure, let’s assume two massively illegal acts, rather than assume everyone just does their legal job.
I assume that Trey Gowdry will be arrested and charged with orchestrating the leaks from his committee before the election as well.
Like Freeh before him, Comey has made a big mistake in assisting GOP political tricks. It is clear Clinton can’t trust him and must fire him the day she takes office.
Of course the FBI chief has a ten year tenure in theory. But that is very easy to circumvent. Clinton can and should revoke Comey’s security clearances by executive order on inauguration day.
Give it up Chuck! If they had anything vaguely incriminating, it would have leaked already.
Repeating innuendo doesn’t make the innuendo fact. As a matter of fact, Grassley is bordering on slander. Asshole – but he already knew that.
They could probably leak all the dirt they likely have on Trump, Cruz, and Grassley, because it’s a near certainty that they have much more to hide than Hillary, who has been investigated for 25 years.
