Unaware that Wednesday’s House vote had been moved up an hour earlier, Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) cut his workout short and raced to the chamber donning a sweat-soaked T-shirt, gym shorts and sneakers. When he arrived, the former South Carolina governor who infamously disappeared from his state in 2009 — forcing aides to claim he was hiking the Appalachian Trail when he was actually visiting his mistress in Argentina — was ribbed by a Republican colleague.
