Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) office confirmed that nobody from the GOP would deliver an official televised response to President Obama’s highly anticipated jobs speech on Thursday night. His spokesman Mike Steel commented that the president’s proposals “will rise or fall on their own merits,” suggesting that a Republican response was unnecessary.

The speaker’s snub apparently frustrated Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who commented that the lack of a Republican response would ‘speak volumes about their lack of commitment to creating jobs.’ This latest jab comes after several GOP lawmakers – Sen. Jim DeMint, Rep. Joe Walsh, and Rep. Paul Broun – announced that they would hold a Twitter town hall instead of attending the president’s speech.
