Following concerned speculation and news reports about a series of Google Street View images from Botswana that appeared to show a donkey being felled by a Google image-capture car, Google on Wednesday released new imagery it says proves that no donkey was harmed in the making of its Botswana Street Views. Specifically, the new imagery sequence shows the donkey lying in the dust first — presumably taking a “dust bath” — then getting up and moving out of the way of the Google Street View car. As Google warns: “never ass-ume.”
