On CNN, Newt Gingrich’s chief of staff Patrick Millsaps disregarded early exit polls showing Gingrich unlikely to take either Mississippi or Alabama. “I think it will be a long night,” he said, noting that whatever happens they will collect delegates and move on to the next contests in Illinois and Louisiana. Denying there was any watermark the campaign had to hit, he said it’s going to be a “long path to Tampa, and I think you’re going to see us there.”
