George P. Bush, candidate for Texas land commissioner and the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has taken a position on defunding Obamacare: Do it.
The Dallas Morning News reports that Bush supports the efforts of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and others to strip funding from the health care reform law as part of this fall’s federal debt ceiling negotiations.
“It’s a monstrosity of a law,” Bush told the paper. The grandson of the George H.W. Bush and nephew of George W. Bush is running unopposed for the land commissioner seat next year.
Despite backlash from members of his own caucus and assurances that the White House won’t even entertain such a proposal, Cruz has continued pushing the issue during the August recess.
