Fox News anchor Chris Wallace said Friday that Republicans pushing to defund the Affordable Care Act overreached and made the debate an easy choice for Democrats.
“They made it too easy on the Democrats to say no by saying, ‘Let’s defund Obamacare.’ I can understand where people may want that but it was easy for Democrats to say that’s unacceptable.”
Wallace suggested there were other proposals, such as a delay to the individual mandate, that Democrats would have been more inclined to support. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) broke with fellow Democrats on Thursday when he said he would support a one-year delay to the individual mandate.
“Saying ‘kill Obamacare’ is a kind of easy vote for most Democrats,” Wallace said.
