Fox Guests Debate Whether Media Has ‘Double Standard’ On Syria And Iraq (VIDEO)

Conservative radio host Monica Crowley and liberal columnist Kirsten Powers sparred on Fox News Wednesday over whether a “double standard” exists in the media with respect to the possible intervention in Syria given the Iraq war in 2003.

Crowley argued that the difference between the two instances is “like night and day.” While Bush spent a year presenting a case for the invasion of Iraq, she said, “most of the media were very skeptical about any kind of military intervention in Iraq…a lot of the criticism was valid, a lot of it wasn’t — it was just that President Bush was prosecuting this war.”

Powers remembered the media’s role differently, however.

“I remember actually the media not being very skeptical and I remember them pretty much banging the drums for war and being very supportive for war,” she said. “I think they have not been skeptical enough, they’ve not been skeptical enough with President Obama. We never really heard enough about the drone wars, for example, for most of his first administration.”
