Guests on a Fox affiliate in Houston, Texas got into a heated debate, in a segment posted online Monday, over the videos that showed a South Carolina officer violently removing a black female student from her class.
Videos showed the officer at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C. flipping the female student’s desk over backward while she was sitting in it, then tossing her across the floor. The officer was later fired.
The two guests on the Fox affiliate, Quanell X, a community activist who is black and Angela Box, a political consultant and former elementary school teacher who is white, got into a passionate debate over race on a segment the network called “Fox Faceoff.”
Box introduced the segment and said that, as a teacher she could guarantee that, “this isn’t the first time this has happened. I guarantee it. This is no innocent little lamb.”
She continued and said that the “root causes” of why it happened should be addressed.
“The disrespect of teachers, this Black Lives Matter movement, this perpetual chip on your shoulder against everybody that’s not like yourself,” Box continued. “It’s got to stop. We’ve got to address the culture.”
She said the officer went too far, but shouldn’t have lost his job.
Quanell X said he thought the officer was justified in being fired, but that he should also be indicted for assaulting the student.
“Now, for you to say that we need to deal with the culture of black kids in schools, let’s deal with the culture of these crazy fanatic white boys who go in schools with guns and shoot and kill everybody,” Quanell X replied, as Box tried to interrupt. “… The shootings in other cities across the America have all been crazy little white boys shooting up innocent people, so let’s study that culture.”
Box interrupted him and said that, “the black community has been run by the Democrats for the last 60 years, and it’s destroyed the black family, destroyed initiative, destroyed self worth. You have kids out there shooting each other. It’s not just white kids. Black kids shoot each other all the time.”
“But wait a minute. You said address the black culture,” Quannel X said.
“Address the black culture, the perpetual chip on your shoulder,” she said, interrupting him.
Quannel X told Box not to interrupt him and to “show some manners” and to “show some respect.”
“Don’t tell me a damn thing about the black culture and kids in school when it’s white boys who go in school and murder all kinds of innocent people,” he said. “Don’t tell me that! We need to study these fanatic white boys!”
She replied that she once worked in an inner city school and told Quannel X to do the same and let her know once he had. Then, he “could have something to say about it.”
“Ma’m, I went to inner city schools!” Quanell X said. “At the end of the day, there’s wolves in sheep’s clothing every day teaching at black schools.”
“How dare you say that to me,” she said.
“It’s the truth when it comes to you,” he replied.
Watch the exchange:
Glad I did’t have to watch the video. The last line of the article nails it. The problem is not that black students don’t respect teachers, but that teachers disrespect black students. As that famous republican lunatic said, “it is the soft bigotry of low expectations.” If you demand a level of acquiescence from blacks that you don’t whites, you are teaching them to hate you. Yes Ms. Box, you are the problem.
When checking out the idiotic social media app. Whisper, I saw a teacher complaining about a student throwing a desk at her, and complainng that some people’s parents don’t raise children right anymore. I replied that she lost control of he class and blamed the parents, which makes her the problem. The thing is, it was clear that “some people” are black people, and the lack of empathy or tolerance for a black student with issues is glaring.
Once the camera’s red light went off they chatted amicably.
I quit reading after that whopper.
And I’ll bet the R party wishes THEY had “run” their lives instead.
