NJ Mayor On Christie: ‘I’m Taking Him At His Word’

Fort Lee, N.J. Mayor Mark Sokolich on Sunday said that he still believes New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie when he said he had no involvement in closing lanes on the George Washington Bridge last year.

“I take him at his word,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “There’s just a lot of stuff out there, though.”

Sokolich said that he would just like to look after the town of Fort Lee and stay out of the fray while the controversy surrounding the governor plays out.

“I’m a Jersey guy. I don’t appreciate the political jokes. I signed up to build little league fields and lower taxes. I don’t want to be the brunt of a joke, so again, I taking him at his word,” he said.
