A Facebook employee has started a crowdfunding campaign to help pay for the legal fees expected to be incurred by Edward Snowden, the source of the National Security Agency leaks, The Guardian reported Monday.
Dwight Crow, who lives in the San Francisco area, has already raised more than $5,000 as of this writing using the website Crowdtilt.
With a goal to raise $15,000, Crow wrote on his Facebook page that he was motivated to launch the campaign after hearing that Snowden’s accounts have been frozen.
“Figured a little cash might help significantly :P,” Crow wrote.
