The House Ethics Committee will not investigate the public intoxication arrest of Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) by authorities in Virginia, the panel announced Thursday. Ryan was arrested on Aug. 25 but the case did not receive any publicity until earlier this month when Ryan was found not guilty in Rockbridge County General District Court.
Members of the House Ethics Committee unanimously agreed that a review by an investigatory subcommittee was not required and “the handling of this matter by local authorities is sufficient given the facts of the matter,” according to a statement. The matter is considered closed unless additional information comes to light, the statement said.
