The Democratic and Republican Senate committees disclosed on Thursday that they have each thrown more and more money into two key Democratic-held seats.
Reports filed with the Federal Election Commission show that at various points in the past seven days, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee put another $1.6 million into Virginia while the National Republican Senatorial Committee countered with another $1.5 million there. Overall for this year, the DSCC has spent $6 million on Virginia, while the NRSC has spent $3.9 million.
In Wisconsin, the DSCC put in another $1.3 million in the same time frame, while the NRSC put in $1.5 million. The DSCC has spent nearly $5.7 million, compared with the NRSC’s $4.1 million for the Wisconsin seat.
The DSCC declined to further comment on the numbers. NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh told TPM: “Republicans have long made clear that we view Virginia and Wisconsin as two of our strongest pickup opportunities and we are backing that up with increased financial resources.”
