Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday that he never called GOP rival Jeb Bush to lobby for casino gambling in Florida while Bush was governor of the state.
Bush said at the CNN debate Sept. 16 that Trump tried to give him money in exchange for allowing casino gambling.
“The one guy that had some special interests that I know of that tried to get me to change my views and was generous and gave me money was Donald Trump,” Bush said at the debate. “He wanted casino gambling in Florida.”
“I didn’t. Totally false,” Trump replied at the debate. “I promise I would’ve gotten it.”
Trump said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that he never talked to Bush and asked him to approve casino gambling.
“I never called Jeb Bush and I never asked him to approve casino gambling,” Trump said. “I never pushed for gambling in the sense that I called him. Had I called him, I think he would’ve done it. but I never called Jeb Bush.”
CNN reported this month that Trump hosted a $500-per-person fundraiser for Bush when he was running for governor in 1997. But that fundraiser was “years before,” Trump said on Sunday.
Someone is lying.
Maybe not. Trump may well have funneled money to Bush, in an effort to get casino gambling approved. But he may never have picked up a phone and called him.
the problem is which liar do you believe?
I believe him. WOW! Isn’t that sad.
However, if trump called jebbers with anything plan that looked like money for jebbers, there would be casinos all over Florida!
That you can bet on!
