‘Daily Show’ Quietly Replaces Chris Brown As Interview Guest

“The Daily Show” quietly replaced recording artist Chris Brown as its Tuesday night guest following reports that staffers were uneasy about the selection, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Brown, who built a career as a platinum-certified singer, has been a continued source of controversy since he was convicted for assaulting his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, in 2009.

A Monday report from The Daily Beast said multiple “The Daily Show” staffers disapproved of Brown’s booking. The publication reported that Trevor Noah told staffers he hoped to ask Brown about “domestic abuse issues.”

Instead, the Comedy Central show aired an interview with actor and TV host Nick Cannon about his new movie “Chi-Raq,” which is about gang violence in Chicago. “Chi-Raq” director Spike Lee had already appeared on Monday’s episode to promote the movie.

A Comedy Central spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter that the show “hopes to rebook Brown in the future.”

  1. I’d demand $5 million to go on that show. In fact I should get that for posting here. Once again, I’m the real victim of this story. I demand an apology, which I won’t accept.

  2. If you want to talk about domestic violence issues, I’ve got a better idea - how about inviting Rihanna?

  3. Don’t give a woman beater any publicity. Brown should be shunned, not interviewed.
