The conservative group Crossroads GPS announced Tuesday a new $1.7 million issue-ad buy, targeting President Obama on gas prices. And notably, it re-embraces the legacy of former President George W. Bush.

The ad tells viewers that of increases in oil production that have taken place, they have been on either private lands, or on public lands where the prior approval for exploration was granted by the Bush administration.

“Taking credit for others’ hard work — typical Washington,” the announcer says. “No matter how Obama spins it, gas costs too much. Tell Obama: Stop blaming others. Work to pass better energy policies.”

The ad will start running Wednesday morning on broadcast and cable networks in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia.
