Without a hint of irony, newly minted CNN commentator Corey Lewandowski said Monday that he had “great relationships with the media” during his time as Donald Trump’s campaign manager.
Appearing on the network’s “New Day,” host Alisyn Camerota asked Lewandowski about the criticism over his hiring, saying he never seemed “to have much respect for the press.”
“I think what you have is if you look at the individuals I worked closely with on a day-to-day basis, we had great relationships. I have great relationships with the media,” he responded.
Camerota asked if that sunny outlook applied to the journalists he threatened to “blacklist” if they didn’t stay in the media area during campaign rallies.
“There are rules to follow and the rules are very clear…We ask people to respect those rules,” Lewandowski said.
“Look, I love everybody! I love you, right? Are you kidding me?” he told Camerota with a laugh.
Lewandowski went on to say he’s a person who calls it like it is and won’t hesitate to call out when “something is out of line.”
“I called and emailed more than a dozens sources all around CNN,” Stelter reported. “And I found no signs of revolt, no organized protests about Lewandowski’s hiring. But I did find some discomfort. There are some people that are uncomfortable, and there might be some awkward moments in the makeup room.”
“But everyone I asked also said they understood the hiring, understood the logic of it,” he continued. “The reality is that Lewandowski was not hired to be a reporter, he was hired to defend and explain and channel Trump’s views.”
In the end, Stelter said that he decided that “it makes sense to add another pro-Trump voice.”
Well, the RNC needs one…after all, they get told what to do by FOX and now they can do more out put with CNN.
The reality is that CNN started down this path many years ago.
Much like how Trump has a great relationship with the Blacks /his African American and the Hispanics (as evidenced by the picture of him eating a taco bowl)
Seems Lewandowski learned a lot from his puppet master.
CNN really sunk to a new low. My guess is they are getting off on the attention (negative and positive) that they are getting because of this hire. It’s all about ratings, to hell with what’s proper and decent.
‘We ask people to respect those rules’…HAHAHAHAHAHA…yeah we’ve been watching how that campaign is ALL ABOUT ‘following the rules’…thanks for the laugh!
If Trump wins, CNN will be the media outlet through which he’ll leak everything.
If Trump loses, he’ll make CNN the cornerstone of Trump Realtime Universal Media Properties.
CNN wins either way.
