Hillary Clinton took a couple of jabs at Republican Donald Trump during her speech Tuesday introducing President Obama at their first joint campaign event as part of her bid for the White House.
Clinton, speaking from North Carolina, called Obama a friend she has been “honored” to stand with in good and bad times. She said Obama has never forgotten where he’s coming from.
“And Donald, if you’re out there tweeting — it’s Hawaii,” Clinton said, in reference to Trump’s previous efforts to prove Obama wasn’t born in the United States.
She went on to say that if elected President, she would prioritize creating new, good paying jobs, unlike, she said, Trump would.
“Donald Trump thinks wages are too high. He actually stood on the debate stage and said that,” Clinton said. “And he wants to get rid of the federal minimum wage all together.”
She also noted that Trump has accused of her “playing the woman card” and used one of her previous lines.
“If fighting for equal pay and affordable child care and paid family leave is playing the woman card, then deal me in!” Clinton said.
Clinton praised Obama’s leadership in bringing down Osama Bin Laden before pivoting again to Trump.
“Can you imagine him sitting in the Oval Office the next time America faces a crisis? The world hangs on every word our President says and Donald Trump is simply unqualified and temperamentally unfit to be our commander in chief,” Clinton said, as Obama raised his eyebrows behind her.
Well, at least she didn’t close by saying, “shalom!”
Trump is so target rich when it comes to put-downs from the podium. Why Hillary just doesn’t “go there” with some of her rhetoric is puzzling. For instance, she could directly quote Trump and remind her audience he’s said his about his daughter Ivanka:
“Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father . . . ”
Or this:
Trump was asked how he would feel if Ivanka posed for Playboy. “It would be really disappointing — not really — but it would depend on what’s inside the magazine. I don’t think Ivanka would do that, although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
Watch and learn, Donald. Hillary’s going to stay on message like everyone tells you to. And her message is going to be what a loser you are. Months and months and millions of dollars worth of you = loser. Enjoy!
