Chuck Todd begins his new role as moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press” next week, and the network gave him a personal, in-depth welcome at the end of the show on Sunday.
“He’s relentless. He’s like a dog with a bone,” Andrea Mitchell, who has been standing in as “Meet the Press” anchor, said of Todd.
NBC interviewed is mother, Cheri Roper, and his wife, Kristian Denny Todd. And his NBC colleagues weighed in as well, calling him a “political junkie” and a “walking encyclopedia of politics.”
Brian Williams chimed in from the beach during a vacation in New Jersey.
“So what have we learned? Chuck Todd is a goatee enthusiast. He is a walking political briefing book. But most of all a good guy,” Williams said.

Todd then gave “Meet the Press” a preview of the next era of the show by joining Mitchell to talk politics:
It’s astonishing how a network that can do so many things right (Rachel’s show, Chris Hayes’ show, etc.) can do something so wrong. How tone deaf do you have to be to think that Chuck Todd is the answer to the declining ratings on MtP?
Chuck looks like NBC fed him a tape worm to thin him down for the big show.
Eat the cake, Chuck.
I’m sorry, but I’m just not impressed with Chuck Todd. I just don’t think he’s very sharp. I wish him all the best but I just don’t think he was a good choice for MTP; I think he’ll be in way over his head and he’ll resort to relaying the conventional talking points he’s been fed during the week.
Yawn - more of same
Chuck Todd is as much of a hack as Trog’ Gregory. Until “Meet the Press” decides that their host will do his homework, be prepared, and ask tough followup questions like Tim Russert did and not just accept pontificating bullsh*t answers/statements as Gregory did, “Meet the Press” will be a third rate show at best with very few viewers.
