A Nebraska man was arrested for allegedly stealing his neighbors’ gay pride flag and burning it in front of their house on Sunday, Omaha television station WOWT reported.
Cameron Mayfield, 23, allegedly stole the gay pride flag from outside an Omaha home shortly after midnight on Sunday, according to WOWT. He woke the house’s occupants, a married lesbian couple, who reported seeing Mayfield running down the street, waving the burning flag.
Omaha police arrested Mayfield shortly afterward on suspicion of second-degree felony arson and resisting arrest.
The couple filed a protection order against Mayfield on Monday after detectives reported that Mayfield “seemed unstable,” according to the Omaha World-Herald.
