Vice President Joe Biden was on a conference call about gun control legislation when he heard about the explosions at the Boston Marathon Monday and offered an initial reaction, according to Huffington Post reporter Jennifer Bendery.

“Apparently there has been a bombing. I just turned on the TV… I don’t know any of the details,” Biden said on the call. “Our prayers are with those people in Boston who have suffered injuries. I don’t know how many there are.”
