Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) has cancelled a scheduled trip to Indiana Wednesday to campaign with Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock after Mourdock’s comment that pregnancies from rape are the will of God, the AP reports

Ayotte’s spokesman, Jeff Grappone, said Wednesday that the senator disagrees with Mourdock’s comments, which do not represent her views. Ayotte was scheduled to campaign with Mourdock on Wednesday, but canceled her trip and is in New Hampshire instead.

“I’ve struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God,” Mourdock said in a debate Tuesday night. “And even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”
