David Axelrod said that the day after the deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya, President Obama was in contact with everyone in the national security “chain” with relevant information about the attacks, during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” Axelrod was responding to a question of whether Obama met with his National Security Council before leaving Washington, D.C., the afternoon after the attacks for a campaign event in Las Vegas.
The Romney campaign quickly picked up on Axelrod’s answer, with campaign adviser Eric Fehrnstrom tweeting that Axelrod wouldn’t answer the question:
Did Obama meet with NSC on Libya attack before leaving for Las Vegas fundraiser? On @foxnewssunday, @davidaxelrod wouldn’t say.
