Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI) will seek appointment to the Senate seat vacated by the death of Daniel Inouye (D-HI), a spokesperson for the congresswoman told the Associated Press. Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie (D) will appoint Inouye’s successor from a list of three candidates put forth by the state Democratic Party. Inouye expressed his desire that Hanabusa succeed him, in a letter to Abercrombie dated the same day he died.
