Rep. Todd Akin reiterated Sunday that he is not dropping out of the Missouri Senate race, despite the entreaties of Republicans: “Those people are fooling themselves.”
“We are moving full speed ahead. We have tremendous focus to do what I was commissioned to do by the voters of the state of Missouri and that is replace Claire McCaskill,” he told USA Today.
The deadline for Akin to drop out is on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The national GOP has cut off support for Akin, after his false statement that women’s bodies can prevent pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape.”
