A man accidentally shot himself at a traffic safety checkpoint in Pontotoc County, Miss. over the weekend, the Mississippi Highway Patrol told WTVA News.

The man tried to push a gun farther down next to the seat of the car when it accidentally discharged.

The bullet struck the man through his arm, then hit the side of his face and exited through his ear, according to WTVA.

Police have not yet filed any charges, according to WTVA.

  1. Note to self: When encountering a traffic checkpoint while traveling with gun I feel awkward discussing, do not hide gun by pushing on its trigger while its muzzle is pointed toward my head.
