The South Carolina Republican Party on Tuesday announced that nine candidates qualified for the state’s GOP presidential primary. They are: Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.
“Presidential candidates and Republican activists across our nation know South Carolina’s 30-year tradition of successfully choosing the Republican nominee,” Chairman Chad Connelly said in a statement. “That tradition will continue on January 21, 2012, as South Carolina Republicans again live up to our motto, ‘We Pick Presidents!’”
