Trump Decides To Raise Birther Questions Again

Wasn’t this all behind us?

Donald Trump joined Rep. Michele Bachmann on a tele-town hall Monday night. The campaign is claiming that over 200,000 people called in to participate.

In a wide-ranging conversation, the pair discussed health care reform, the Solyndra debacle, China, and most shockingly, President Obama’s birth certificate.

“When I left the race, as Michele will tell you, I was leading the polls,” Trump claimed. “And it was because I talked about China and OPEC. Not just the birth certificate, which I’m very proud of, I got this guy to show it. Someone should continue to analyze that whole deal by the way.”

Trump has been largely silent concerning his birther argument since President Obama released his long-form birth certificate and showed clips from “The Lion King” at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner earlier this year. Obama memorably referred to the Disney classic as his “birth video.”

Trump didn’t offer Bachmann his endorsement, but he did open the call by saying he had a “lot of respect” for the candidate.

Bachmann, Perry, Romney, and Cain have all been actively courting the New York businessman, who declined to run himself after an extensive public flirtation earlier this year. Trump has met with each of them on different occasions.
